Company History

In 1986, Merit Financial was founded in Santa Monica, California as a different kind of financial services firm. While other organizations were simply selling stocks or mutual funds, Merit Financial focused on selling physical precious metals for the individual. This novel approach was one in which precious metals buyers based their decisions on a full understanding of the physical metals marketplace.  With informed choices about investment and asset alternatives, clients’ would be able to meet their specific personal objectives of alternative investing. Merit Financial pioneered the first verbal confirmaion– And prides itself on its disclosures and fairness in pricing, no fees charged for liquidations and full disclosures of the entire transaction.

Since its modest beginnings, the firm has grown into one of the largest precious metals financial services firms in the United States. Merit Financial is a privately held company, headed by Peter Epstein, our president. To date we have serviced clients from all 50 states, Canada, investment advisers and family trusts.

Working hard to extend the highest level of customer satisfaction to our clients Merit has grown into more than just a traditional coin dealer.   Through employee talent acquisitions we have included in our services through the years, ongoing market updates, two way market making, IRA fulfillment and even local storage as key elements of the Merit Financial service offering.
